Easy to understand and play, ludo is a classic game for children, adult, and senior citizens alike. It is believed to be one of the oldest board games and has thousands, if not millions of followers online or traditionally. There have been quite a few variations of the game, but the basic premise has remained the same throughout.

The Equipment

Ludo consists of a square board with four different colors on each corner – usually blue, red, green, and yellow. The game can be played between 2-4 players. Each player is assigned a color, or, in some cases, they can choose one. The players are given four game pieces, which are placed on the large square corners of the colors they’ve selected. The board also has four colored triangles in the middle (we’ll explain their function later on).

The Game

The game starts when one of the players click the dice on the screen. This action prompts the dice to roll and show a number. To begin, a player must roll a six to move their piece out of the base corner and onto the start position. The players then take turns in a clockwise order.

The Objective

All four game pieces have to complete the board, after which they can enter the home column (the colored small squares that are close to your base corner.) From there, you would need to roll the dice with the exact same number left to reach the triangle. For example, if the triangle is on the third step from your piece, you can only move it there if the dice you’ve rolled also shows three. Otherwise, you’d have to move another piece. And if the only piece you have is inside your home column and you can’t move it, you’d have to skip your turn. The person to move all four pieces into the triangle wins.
